Halloween Countdown: Alternatives to carving

No doubt about it, my family loves to carve pumpkins—big pumpkins, little pumpkins, ALL the pumpkins. But I get it, they can be messy and not everyone likes to stick their hands ion pumpkin guts.

Actually, last year was the first time my sister Amelia did it—and it's not clear whether she will do it again.

But if you're not the pumpkin guts kind of person, there are definitely a lot of creative options. I did a quick search for ideas because when we go to my grandparents' canola farm for Thanksgiving this weekend, we'll need to keep busy if the weather is bad...and Grandma definitely is not a fan of pumpkin guts.

Scroll down for some interesting ways to dress up the season's main gourd!

This melted crayon idea is awesome—but probably a little messy.

We have some gauze in our first-aid kit—maybe I'll make a mummy like this one!

Paint your pumpkin any colour you want and then add whatever craft things you can find.

I bet my sister would love to make this lion!

You can get really creative with paint—like this awesome Day of the Dead skull.

Awesome, right?

Gotta jet! It looks we might be trying to the Ghost Rockets I talked about on yesterday's blog at school today. My teacher loved the idea!

Just 23 sleeps to Halloween. How excited are YOU?
