Hoppy Easter!

Check out this picture my dad’s friend took. Do you see it?

Look closer. Do you see the white rabbit now?

Cool camouflage, right?

Not to mention a neat reminder that this weekend is EASTER—which means a few days of dying eggs, hanging out with family, doing crafts with my sister, and READING. (I would have added running to that list, but my part of the province just got a major dump of snow—I might be house bound!)

I get the whole meaning behind Easter, and it’s something we do talk about on Easter Sunday, but tonight is all about dying the eggs.

Last year, we made Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle eggs:

This year, I’m going to try Star Wars—if I can find some pictures that show me how. That seems a little more complicated.

And, check out these cool sock bunnies my sister Amelia and I are making on Saturday:

Trust me, they look more difficult than they are. Here’s the link if you want to make your own. They’d look cute as place settings—as long as you’re using clean socks! <grin>

Do you have any family Easter traditions? Share them on my Facebook page and you could win a copy of the new Chase Superman Duffy comic, AS YOU WISH. It’s fantastic!

Gotta jet! Have a hoppy Easter—and if this is the start of your Spring Break, be safe and have fun!

P.S. I’m taking part in the annual A-Z Blogging Challenge next month with a super cool (and educational!) theme. See you April 1 for the theme reveal—and the first post!

Biodiesel Day: Why YOU should care!

I get it, biodiesel isn’t exactly on your mind, even though today is Biodiesel Day. But my grandpa is a canola farmer, and so it’s something I think about —especially since my grandpa’s friend Kevin Therres designed a Jet Engine RACE CAR that uses 100% canola biodiesel. (I got to see it race!)

Biodiesel is an environmentally-friendly fuel for diesel trucks, cars, buses and tractors, made from a variety of crops—like soy and, of course, canola. But, did you know, biodiesel isn’t just an alternative fuel source for vehicles? At Sustainival, a super fun carnival in Fort McMurray, AB, all of the rides run on canola biodiesel. Cool, right?

You can learn more about Mr. Therres’ race car in the Superman Duffy comic, GOTTA JET! And right now, illustrator James Grasdal is working on some incredible art for another book in the series, MYTHCONCEPTIONS. It’s an adventure set in Sustainival! I can’t wait for you to read it!

Gotta jet! Have an awesome weekend!

Thursday was AWESOME!

In case you missed it, Thursday was the international DAY OF AWESOMENESS and I’ll tell you, it was AWESOME. Let me break it down.

I woke up to the sweet smell of my mom’s special Chocolate Chip Pancakes—and it wasn’t even my birthday! I ate three of them and didn’t feel full, which never happens.

Awesome, right?

It gets better.

The sun was shining, so I laced up my Kicks and took to the sidewalks. Everyone on our entire block had cleared off the ice, so I didn’t slip once. Not only did I run my personal best, the dog at the end of the block didn’t bark at me when I raced past. Awesomeness!

But wait, there’s more!

After my run, my friend Sophie and I walked to school, without Lightning tagging along (that kid is always trying to one up me.) I didn’t forget my homework or my lunch AND I aced my Math exam, which is AWESOME since that’s not my best subject. During gym class, Coach Taylor told the whole school over the PA system that I was the fastest runner he’d ever seen—even faster than Superman.

AWESOME, right?

Er. Okay, maybe none of this ACTUALLY happened…but it would make an awesome story, right? What was the most awesome part of YOUR day Thursday?

Gotta jet! Have an awesome weekend!
