Halloween Countdown: Spookifying Your October Calendar Of Events

The most spooktacular time of the year kicks off TODAY!

Every day this month, I'll be posting about something to do with Halloween—trivia, crafts, recipes, events, and SO. MUCH. MORE. 31 days of creeptastic fun! Plus, 31 chances to WIN a copy of Beneath the SOIL, the spookiest book in the Superman Duffy collection of graphic novels. How? Comment on my posts, share them on social media, or send me an email. It's THAT simple.

Since it's the first day of the month (and the countdown), I thought the most important thing might be to organize our social calendars—well, mine for sure. So without further adieu (ha, I love that word), here are some haunting events happening around Alberta this month.

How many will YOU attend?

Get Lost In Alberta's Corn Mazes: Fun during the day, but at night, when all you have is a flashlight to guide you through the twists and turns, corn mazes are a sure-fire way to get your heart racing. Calgary, Edmonton, Lethbridge, Bowden, Lacombe, High Prairie, Grande Prairie, Leduc, and Brooks all have corn mazes for you to explore.

Chase Away Your Fears: Or, maybe run toward them, depending on how excited you are about exercise. Wear your Halloween costume for this annual run—held in both Edmonton and Calgary—in support of diabetes research. My grandpa has diabetes and I LOVE to run (as you know) so this event is a MUST for me. Get the details here.

Take A Ghost Tour: Alberta is home to many haunted places, where "ghosts" have been known to roam all year, not just at Halloween. Explore them on your own (with adults, of course!) or check out paranormal investigators, like this team. I'll be doing a special post on places in Alberta that are supposedly haunted...but you can get a head start by reading this article.

Haunted Pumpkin Festival: From shooting pumpkins out of a cannon to screaming through a haunted house, the Haunted Pumpkin Festival at Prairie Gardens Adventure Farm is spooktacular fun! Learn more about it here!

It would be IMPOSSIBLE to list all of the events across Alberta—this list of Edmonton and area haunts is overwhelming enough (I need more weekends in October!)—but I recommend Googling "Halloween Events" for YOUR area. Comment on this post with a link and you'll WIN a copy of Beneath the SOIL. It's that easy.

Scary, right?

Gotta jet! Have a creeptastic first day of October. See you tomorrow!
