To celebrate National Magic Day, my Language Arts teacher Mrs. Kratky asked us to write a short essay on our favourite magician or illusionist. I chose Harry Houdini.
Back in the day, Houdini’s grand illusions and daring spectacular escape acts made him one of the most famous magicians of all time. Like many other magicians, he often took life-threatening chances to keep audiences enthralled. I watched a few of his tricks on YouTube and they gave me chills!
Most of the “trick” behind Houdini’s illusions are still a mystery — and they should be, in my opinion. Some of them are MUCH too dangerous. But that doesn’t mean there aren’t some other tricks you can learn. My neighbor is a magician (he even has a rabbit named ABRACADABRA) and he says there are hundreds of easy magic tricks for kids that you can find on Google, YouTube, in books at the library, and even at the toy store.
I don’t know about you, but after reading about Houdini, I’m kind of inspired to learn a little magic myself!
Gotta…disappear! (Just kidding…I think that trick is WAY too advanced for me…) Have a great weekend.
