Everyone knows
I’m a runner—well, unless you’re new to my blog, and if that’s the case,
WELCOME! But chances are, you’re well aware that I love to practice for the
school track team by running the length of my grandparent’s canola farm. My
personal best is 10 minutes flat, which is fast. Like, really fast.
So, it stands to
reason that I’m already counting down the days until the Olympics start—69, in
case you’re wondering! I love ALL of the events, but especially the “athletics”
category, which is, of course, all of the running and jumping sports. (My coach
says if I keep practicing I might have a shot at some of those track events one
day…)
Did you know that
there are 65 athletes from Canada competing in the athletics category? Yup.
Twenty-eight men and 37 women. You can bet I’ll be watching all of them
compete!
Plus, we’re
already starting to do Olympic-inspired activities at school—like mapping out
all of the competing countries on a globe, compiling statistics from previous
games for math assignments, and even writing short stories using story
starters, like the one I’ll post on Monday.
What are you
doing to countdown the Olympic games? What’s YOUR favourite sport? Sound off in
the comments!
Gotta jet! Have a
great weekend.
